UPDATES

8/15/2023 11:00PM - Pipeline crews have completed the watermain valve replacement project and water has been turned back on! Thank you very much for everyones patience with this extremely difficult rehabilitation project.

8/15/2023 8:00 PM – Crews are working on the final pieces of pipe and valve alignment. They still have some final work to restrain the pipe and partially backfill before water can be restored.  Crews are close to turning on the water, it will take time to build up pressure in the system. Customers may see a small amount of water and it will build up to full pressure over time. Thank you again for your patience with this difficult project.

8/15/2023 4:00 PM – Crews are currently placing the new valves and pipe into the excavation site. Crews will have the water turned on later this evening however, timing is still to be determined.  Please check the BMMD website for updates and we again thank you for your patience in dealing with this difficult process of rehabilitating our aging water infrastructure.

8/15/2023 7:45 AM – Crews are onsite completing the necessary repairs to get water back in service. All the homes highlighted in the image below will be without water today until repairs are completed. We are hopeful to have the water back on this evening. BMMD apologizes for the interruption of service overnight. Thank you for your patience while we work through these necessary construction projects.

Please check map attached for area of outage.

8/14/2023 10:00PM – Crews have been working hard throughout the evening to get the water system back up and running.  Crews have reached a point that is unsafe to continue for the night due to the saturation of the hole from the leaking pipe.  Unfortunately, that will leave residents without water overnight. BMMD apologizes for the interruption of services as we are trying to improve our aging water infrastructure system.

8/14/2023 6:45 PM – As crews were turning back on the water for the night a pipe burst in the hole.  Crews are currently back onsite pumping down the excavation site which has filled with a considerable amount of water. Once the water is pumped down crews can assess the situation and try and fix the leak for tonight to get water service back online. Please have patience as we try to remedy this leak in the pipe.  Please check the BMMD website as we will continue to update throughout the evening.  The homes highlighted in the image below will be without water until this is fixed. Thank you for your patience.

8/14/2023 4:30 PM – Thank you for your patience with today’s water shutdown. Water service will be restored in the next few hours. The crews were not able to complete all of the repairs today therefore requiring another shutdown tomorrow (8/15/23) starting at 8 a.m. The crews made great progress today but continue to deal with challenges of working on an older water system and keeping the crews safe with numerous shallow utilities.  We will continue to provide updates on the BMMD website to keep you informed of any developments or changes.

8/14/2023 7:30AM – Thank you to all the residents and businesses that are affected by the ongoing water system construction project on Ryan Gulch Road. The BMMD team and construction crews have been working tirelessly to navigate through various obstacles to ensure the safety of everyone involved. We are doing our best and remain committed to completing the project as swiftly as possible. As a reminder, there is a planned water shutdown for 9:00AM this morning (8/14/2023).  The water will be turned back on this evening when the work is completed. We will continue to provide updates on the BMMD website to keep you informed of any developments or changes as there could be an additional outage tomorrow if crews are not able to complete all the work today. We understand that this project has caused inconveniences, and we appreciate your patience and understanding throughout these tough and unexpected challenges of rehabilitating an aging water system. Please contact the district if you have any additional questions or check our website for the most up to date information.

8/11/2023 1:00pm – There will not be a shutdown today (8/11/2023) due to the slow progress of the dig. Ryan Gulch Road will remain closed throughout the weekend.  BMMD apologizes for the delays.  We are hopeful for a water shutdown on Monday (8/14/23) however, please check the website for details on Monday morning.

8/10/2023 7:00PM – After another full day of preparing the excavation for crews to safely enter the hole, it is still not safe for crews to start cutting the pipe for a shutdown. Due to the continued discoveries of unmarked utilities the crews are having to do a tremendous amount of hand digging to expose the utilities safely and prevent further work stoppages.  Specialized trenching and shoring have been brought in. The shallow utilities continue to be in the way and are disruption to have crews enter the hole safely.  Crews will be continuing the dig tomorrow to make the excavation safe for crews to enter.  An additional update for the shutdown will be provided tomorrow. BMMD and our crews are also disheartened with the numerous delays and please know we are trying to complete the project as soon as possible.

8/10/2023 10:00 AM – There will not be a water shutdown today (8/10/2023). The excavation has run into multiple unforeseen issues dealing with shallow utilities and bury depths that is causing delays. Utility locators have mismarked multiple gas and phone lines that our crews have uncovered. We are finding unknown, unmarked utilities that they are having to call in and wait for other utilities to respond to repair or state that it is abandoned. This has again pushed back our anticipated water shut down time and date. Construction crews have brought in larger excavators and trench safety equipment to deal with the deepening excavation and hope to still be able to perform the repairs, tomorrow, August 11th. We will know more this afternoon and will make another update confirming the shutdown tomorrow and the time.

8/9/23 7:00PM - The crews have hit an unmarked shallow utility that is slowing the progress on the dig.  Due to the unexpected depth of the water main at approximately 13 - 15 feet deep when it is normally around 9 feet, the crews have had to have more trench boxes delivered this afternoon due to the depth of the water main.  They are currently moving the trench boxes into place and this is paramount for worker safety.  The plan is still for a water shutdown tomorrow morning (8/10/23), but the start time might be later than 9 AM.  BMMD is still planning on having the water back on in the evening.  BMMD will update the website tomorrow morning when we have a better idea of when the water shutdown will be.  Thank you for your patience with this complicated dig.

8/8/23 3:45PM – Water will not be shut off tomorrow 8/9/2023.  The excavator continues to dig down through many shallow utilities. The dig is going slower than expected due to the complexity of the underground utilities so there will not be a water shutdown tomorrow. We are still planning for Water to be shut off Thursday (8/10/23) at approximately 9 am and will be restored in the evening. More updates are expected tomorrow.

8/7/23 4:30PM -- The excavators have removed all the asphalt and started digging carefully around the many shallow utilities including gas and electric.  More updates to come tomorrow regarding the upcoming water shutdowns. Check back here for more updates.

8/7/23 10:00 AM -- Ryan Gulch Road is Closed now. Crews are onsite mobilizing equipment up the hillside.  They will start digging today.

Thank you for your cooperation and patience while we work to improve our water system.
